Sergeant John Wayne Faught was killed by an improvised explosive device during a dismounted security patrol January 16.Sgt Faught was a member of the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton, Alberta. He was serving as a member of the Task Force 3-09 Battle Group.
“At the time of his death, Sergeant John Wayne Faught was taking part in a joint patrol with the Afghan National Army and the Canadian Battle Group near the village of Nakhonay as part of our efforts to protect Afghans from insurgents and to learn more about the villagers and their needs,” said Brigadier-General Dan Ménard, commander of the Canadian Task Force in Kandahar.
